Fine motor activity ideas for kids

Learn courtesy, color and counting with bands

Hi Everyone,

My toddler initiated a simple and fun game by asking me “which one do you want?”. She was holding hair rubber bands in both of her hands. I pointed out and asked,” Can I have this one, please?”. She smiled and gave the bands from that hand to me. I said, ‘Thank you”. She ran towards the box that held the bands, took few of them in the empty hand, ran back to me and started all over again. I thought, hey, why can’t we make it a more elaborate game if she enjoys so much?
I took a paper plate and put few colored bands on that.
We started having more fun.  I asked her,”Can I have a black, please?”. When she gave me a black one, I said “Thank you”. She was revising her color identification skill.

When she became comfortable with single band, we moved to two bands. I asked her, “Can I have two xxxx please?”. I thanked her when I got from her. She was revising her counting skill.

When I asked for 3 bands, she started to get confused. So currently we are sticking with 2 bands.

This fun game is good for fine motor skill and as well as for pincer grip too.

Can you just believe that this simple game was played for more than few times in a day and each time it lasted more than 15 minutes?

I love when it is so easy to teach the kids!
