Today’s post is about simple but fun ornament made by my daughters . Aluminum foil and sequins are interesting factors in this ornament. This Sparkly Christmas ornament is simple enough for kids to make.
Materials needed:
- Aluminum foil (US) or Aluminium foil (UK)
- A thick card stock ( We used Pasta box)
- Sequins
- Glue
- A piece of yarn
- Tape
Method:
Draw and cut out the ornament. I drew the circle using a bowl and added the mouth by erasing the portion of the circle. We used an empty pasta box as it is a bit steadier than the card stock. Store brought template of the ornament can also be used.
2. Cut the aluminum foil slightly bigger than the template.
3. Wrap the ornament with the foil. Tape it at the back.
4. Pour the glue on the front side of the ornament. Spread the glue over the entire ornament with a paint brush or finger. My preschooler loves to touch glue, so she used her index finger.
5. Decorate the ornament using sequins.
6. My preschooler just dropped the sequins over the ornament. However my ten year old wanted to make flowers with sequins.
7. Once satisfied with decoration, attach a piece of yarn with glue or tape to tie the ornaments to the tree. Let the ornaments dry. The glue will become clear once dried.
Since my daughters are 6 years apart, doing activities which both of them enjoy is challenging. This activity was enjoyed by both of them. So this one is a definite hit at our house.
The ornaments are pretty simple to make but look gorgeous. Share your pictures if you try.
