Hi Everyone,
The paper beads we created were waiting for us to be strung. I was planning to make a round bead from paper to use as a connecting bead which was never happening. When we daughter bugged asked me for an activity, it suddenly struck me to make a round bead from aluminium foil. So we got into action!
Materials Needed
Aluminium Foil
Scissors
Tooth pick
Pushpin (Not photographed – as I needed later)
Step 1:
Cut the aluminium foil into strips. Our strips were around 1 – 2 inches wide. As you can see, our strips were not equal.
Step 2 :
Start at one side and start rolling the foil into round shape.
Step 3:
We were maintaining the round shape as we were rolling the foil. When we reached the required size, just cut the foil. If the bead seems to be little loose, keep rolling on the table till it is a hard ball.
Step 4:
To poke the hole, I thought it can be done using a toothpick. But the toothpick is not sharp enough! We used the pushpin. After the hole was made, we used toothpick to make the hole a little bigger. Silver bead from Aluminium foil is done!
Step 5: (Purely optional)
Play with the foil trying out various facial expressions
String both paper long bead and round foil beads. Find out how we created paper beads from here. It looked so gorgeous. I was more proud than my daughter for our creation!
Both the beads are very simple to make. Kids can do all by themselves.
