Construction paper sun catcher is one of the favorites of  my elder daughter. This is the first time my toddler did this activity. She enjoyed too!
Materials needed :
1. Construction paper
2. Oil – Any oil will work – Baby oil, cooking oil – We used Olive oil
3. Brush or cotton balls or q-tips
We usually use Q-tips. Just for a change, toddler started with cotton balls and my first one used brush through out.
I cut out the construction paper in egg shape. Kids dipped the cotton balls (and brush) in oil and started drawing in the construction paper.
Toddler explored by patting the cotton balls.
But elder one was drawing with the brush. She used back of her brush for dots
Seeing her sister, my toddler also wanted a brush and wanted to draw dots using the back of the brush. I can name the girl “Me too” 🙂
As usual, she wanted to explore with her hands!
Toddler had almost covered her egg with oil
It was raining outside. Perfect rainy day activity.
Both of them enjoyed! It is difficult to do some activities, where I can involve both of them. I think I have found one and will be repeating for all seasons!

What a neat and simple idea! I love projects that don’t take too many supplies. 😉 Hopping over from the Tuesday Tots link-up. 🙂
Interesting activity..
I love this 🙂 I keep meaning to make sun catchers with my son. Thanks for joining in with Tuesday Tutorials #pintorials
I’ve never seen sun catchers made using this technique before! Thanks for sharing at the Hands-On Play Party! I hope you stop by and link up again next week!
This is so clever! I would have never thought to use oil, but the effect is magical. Thanks for sharing this at the After School Linky Party!
Oil… wow! I would have never even considered it!
Thank you for stopping by the Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop this week. We hope to see you drop by our neck of the woods next week!
I did not have t h is experience. We used olive oil & regular construction paper but it just looks wet?
We also used olive oil and regular construction paper. Did you try showing the paper in the sunlight like sun catchers?
Can you try with a dot of oil in the paper and show in the sunlight to check whether this works?
