Watercolor painting ideas for kids

Sun – Progressive watercolor technique

Watercolor painting is very therapeutic. We tried painting a sun using the progressive technique of watercolor.

Affiliation links are used.

Materials needed :

1.Watercolor paper

2.Washable watercolor

3. Pencil

4. Compass to draw circles or circular objects to trace

5. Hair dryer

Method:

1. Draw concentric circles. We did not have compass. So we used circular objects to trace.

2. Paint the entire paper with yellow watercolor. Dry the paint with hair dryer.
We removed few circles as they looked very congested
3. Leave the outer circle and paint the remaining circles. Dry the paint with hair dryer. Likewise, leave one circle  for every layer of paint and paint the remaining inner circles. Dry the paint using hair dryer before layering.
4. Each inner circle will be darker than its outer circle.

We wanted to try progressive watercolor technique. This procedure did not give the effect we were hoping for! But it was a nice experience for us!

    1. Thanks Muhil, We need not use hair dryer if we wait patiently for the paint to dry. Hairdryer and air dry will create the same result.

      Happy creating
