The beauty of games is that the kids can learn any concepts in a fun way! I am not teaching addition or subtraction to my preschooler . We are playing a game with her which teaches her addition and subtraction. This game does not need any setup (isn’t a great bonus!)
1. Easter egg ( anything like bowls, box etc that covers small pieces can be used)
2. 3 to 5 counters like coins, buttons etc.
Method:
1. Keep 2 counters on the table and count with the preschooler.
2. Cover one of the counters with the egg (or box) and ask the preschooler to guess how many are inside the egg.
3. The preschooler has to see how many are outside to find out how many are inside.
4. Appreciate if the answer is correct and keep changing the number of counters to cover.
5. If the preschooler is comfortable with 2 counters, increase the counters one by one.
We are playing this game for past one week. My daughter had few hiccups at the beginning. Now she is a pro. She can find out till four counters. She is asking to play this every day since we started playing.
