Today’s post is about a Christmas countdown idea created with Water bottles in the shape of Kisses chocolate. Like most of the kids, my kids love Chocolates and especially Hershey’s kisses. So this Christmas countdown in the shape of Kisses chocolate was perfect. My 10 year old helped me to make these water bottle Kisses.
Materials needed :
1. Aluminum foil (US) or Aluminium foil (UK)
2. Empty water bottles
3. Activity ideas sheet (optional)
4. Strips of paper
5. Scissors
Preparation:
1. Cut out the aluminium foil. I did not measure. It would have been around 10 inches in height. I did not modify the width. It is as it is from the box.
2. Cut out the neck portion from the water bottles. We need only the neck portion.
3. Write down the activity ideas in a paper and count them into strips. We did countdowns for 7 days and our activities were related to Art and Math.
4. Cut out thin strips of paper to insert into the “Chocolate” at the top to give the authentic look.
Method:
1. Roll the activity paper and keep it inside the bottle. Keep the bottle in the foil slightly down from one corner width wise. I tried with lid and without lid. I believe without lid worked better.
6. Start rolling the foil around the bottle. Maintain the cone shape.
7. Before the last roll, insert the paper at the top of the cone. Roll the cone completely.
8. Tuck the extra foil at the bottom inside the bottle. This will ensure that the activity paper does not fall down.
9. Adjust the foil at the top to make them look like the chocolate.
Voila! The water bottle kisses is done. It is very simple. Once the initial set up is completed, it takes no time to create. If required, write the days with Sharpie. As we made only for 7 days, I thought I can ask my preschooler to count everyday to make it a counting activity too. Two in one!
