Christmas window cling

Christmas window cling

Today I am sharing a simple but messy window cling creation idea. This was done by my preschooler. As you can see the strokes in the window cling are not perfect. But she is proud of her creation. Let us get into the procedure we followed to make this Christmas window cling.

Materials needed : (aff links used)

  1. Mod Podge
  2. Cardboard Christmas tree stencil
  3. Aluminium foil (UK) and aluminum foil (US)
  4. Acrylic paint
  5. Ear buds

Method:

1. I used cereal box to create the cardboard stencil. Draw a Christmas tree on one side of the cereal side. Cut the inside portion of the tree. The cardboard stencil is ready. Store brought Christmas tree stencils can also be used.

2. Take a piece of alumium foil slightly bigger than the stencil.

3. Place the stencil over the aluminum foil. If required, use a piece of tape to keep them together. I did not tape them.

4. Mix Mod Podge with green paint. I used a bottle lid to mix them.

6. Invite the child to paint. Using the ear buds and stencil, paint in the aluminium foil.  Once the entire stencil is covered, slowly remove the stencil and let the painting dry.

7. Let the painting dry completely. It took us 24 hours to dry completely. Slowly peel the tree from the foil. It will come out easily.

8. Attach it in your window and enjoy your Christmas decoration. It is beautiful when the sun rays pass through it.

I believe instead of ear buds, if I had used paint brush, the strokes would have been better. I will try that next time.
