As my preschooler enjoyed our other simple winter craft ideas like marker colored snowflakes and snowman painting, we painted snowflakes again using the plastic bags. It is a very simple and mess free art idea. I love the result – painted snowflakes with marble painting effect
Materials needed for this painting idea
- Tempera paint
- Paper snowflakes
- A plastic bag
- Printer paper
Method
- My ten year old is obsessed with making paper snowflakes. She had made few paper snowflakes after watching this youtube video. Everyday she makes one or two. My preschool and I use it for our painting activities :-).
- Cover your work area. Place the paper snowflake on a printer paper.
- Drop white and blue tempera paint directly on the snowflake
- Carefully cover the snowflake with the plastic bag. We reused the clear plastic bag.
- Let your kid paint over the bag with the fingers and hands.
- Once the child is satisfied, remove the plastic bag.
- Take your time to slowly remove the snowflake. I believe it would work if you wait for it to dry and then remove. I removed it immediately.
- Let the snowflake dry.
My preschooler wanted to repeat. So we repeated the same process. We used the same plastic bag.
Aren’t they beautiful? I love the marble effect in the snowflakes.
I have never tried this plastic bag painting with my preschooler. So she was thrilled.
