My mother draws kolam or otherwise called as Rangoli everyday in front of our house. Every Friday she draws lotus kolam as Friday is auspicious for lord Lakshmi who lives in the lotus flower. When my ten year wanted to make a craft in Indian flag’s tricolor, first thing that came to my mind was drawing lotus kolam. Lotus is Indian national flower. So lotus flower drawing in Indian flag colors made perfect sense.
Simple lotus Flower Drawing!
Materials needed to make this lotus flower drawing:
- Paper
- Marker
- Tempera paint
- Ruler
- Blue construction paper
Method:
- My daughter drew a line around 4 inch in length. Then she drew another 4 inch line perpendicular to it making a plus sign. She drew another plus sign diagonal to the first one. Refer picture 1.
- She drew petals connecting alternate lines (pic 2).
- Again, she drew petals connecting the alternate lines that were remaining.
- Lotus flower drawing is done! As she wanted to do something with Indian flag’s color, we painted our lotus in the Indian flag color.
- Indian flag has 3 colors – orange, white and green. Painted the top portion with orange, middle portion with white and down with green.
- She cut out a circle from a blue paper and drew strokes on it. That made the wheel of the Indian flag.
- Glued the blue circle at the center of the lotus.
I know the petals are not the same size. But she learnt a new way to draw the lotus . What do you think about our tri-colored lotus?
