I had written about sneaking in sight words matching in our yarn wrapped heart craft. Today I am sharing about sneaking in number recognition and counting in a painting activity. Its a Math + Art activity. Isn’t Valentines day math art activity fun? It is very simple to set up!
Valentines day math art activity!
Material needed for this math art activity:
- Tempera paint
- Index cards / printer paper
- Toilet roll
- Marker
Method:
- I cut the toilet roll to a size that my preschool could hold and flattened it. Pushed one crease inside to make a heart shape.
- I did not have index cards handy. So cut the printer paper into four. Those were my number cards. Made 10 such paper “cards”. Wrote numbers 1 to 10 on them with a marker.
- My daughter took a number card from the pile. She read out the number and used the toilet roll to stamp same number of hearts in it.
- She stamped on all number cards.
Now we have beautifully stamped number cards. She was using her “hand crafted” number cards. She was arranging them in order, counting the hearts. I believe she was proud of her number cards.
