I am a strong believer of easy art ideas. The art ideas should be simple to set up and easy for kids to follow. I am sharing another easy art idea – yarn resist watercolor painting. It is a last minute easy Valentines day art idea.
Easy Art Ideas!
Materials required to do yarn resist watercolor painting:
- Yarn
- Liquid watercolors
- Spray bottles
- Watercolor paper
Method:
- We covered our work area as spray painting is messy.
- Cut yarn. We wrote the word Love and made a heart with yarn. We cut five pieces of yarn with each around five inches in length.
- Made the word love with yarn in the watercolor paper. We did not glue the yarn. I was not sure if we would be able to remove the yarn later if we attached it to the paper with glue or tape.
- We sprayed the liquid watercolor paint with a spray bottle on the paper. The big mistake we did was not tapping the watercolor paper to the table. The paper started to curl up as soon as we spray painted it. We had to stop as we did not want to disturb the yarn. Lesson learnt: Tape the paper to the table.
- Slowly removed the yarn even when the painting was still wet. We let the painting dry.
- The yarn resist painting is done! It is a simple last minute valentines day art idea. What do you think about the painting?
