Today’s post is about a lacing activity which is a Montessori inspired idea. St.Patrick’s day Shamrock lacing activity can be customized for any shapes.
St.Patrick’s day Shamrock lacing activity!
Materials needed to set up lacing activity:
- A thin cardboard – we used an empty pasta box
- Green construction paper
- Shoe lace
- Hole punch
- School glue
- Tape
Method:
- I traced the same shamrock template on the pasta box and the construction paper.
- Glued the construction paper template on the pasta box. The lacing card was ready. The pasta box added strength to the lacing card.
- Punched holes around the lacing card.
- Kept the lacing card along with the shoe lace for my preschooler to lace.
- I asked her to insert the shoe lace through a hole from bottom. We attached the end of the lace with a piece of tape at the back.
- It was fun for her to lace around the shamrock. She had to do rework a lot of time as she had not inserted correctly.
Lacing activities are easy to set up and can be customized for all shapes. I need not add that lacing activities are good for hand eye co-ordination and fine motor skills. They lay the background for sewing.
