We love watercolor art projects. Have you seen our watercolor art projects like peacock painting or tulip painting? Painting gives my daughters instant satisfaction. Today I am sharing about a Valentines day watercolor painting made with glue and watercolor.
Watercolor art projects!
Materials needed for this project :
- Watercolor – We used liquid watercolors
- Spray bottles
- Watercolor paper
- Glue
How to paint:
- I drew heart shapes on the watercolor paper with school glue. Directly squeezed the glue on to the paper from the bottle. Glue would spread.
- My initial thought was to wait for the glue to dry. However after 15 minutes I changed my mind and decided to paint in wet glue. By the time, the glue had spread but was not completely dry.
- My preschooler sprayed liquid watercolors using the spray bottles. Paint brushes can be used to paint. However painting on the wet glue would be little trickier with paint brush.
- My preschooler was liberal with paint. The puddle of black paint was really purple. She loves to use the spray bottles 🙂
- We let the painting dry.
My intention was to make bookmarks out of it. However we liked the way how the painting turned out. So decided to keep it as such.
It is a very simple painting technique. Any object drawn on the paper can be traced with glue and painted like this. We had used hot glue in our non candy valentines day gift idea. Hot glue doesn’t spread and retains the shape.
Do you like this simple painting idea? Did you do any art with kiddos recently?
