Rainbow activities are colorful. I created a simple dice game for my preschooler. It was a hit as it involved rainbow colors, dice and clothespins. This simple game is good for color recognition and fine motor skill.
Rainbow activities!
Materials needed to setup this simple play idea:
- Popsicle sticks/craft sticks
- Acrylic paint
- Paint Brush
- Dice
- Masking tape
- Marker
- Clothespins
Preparation required for rainbow game:
- Paint two craft sticks in rainbow colors with acrylic paints.
- Cover the dice with masking tape and write the rainbow color names in the masking tape with a marker. Masking tape can be easily removed from the dice.
I involved my preschooler during preparation too. She painted the craft sticks.
Method to play the rainbow game:
It is a game for two. Each person gets a painted craft stick and six clothespins. The first person who covers all the colors in the craft stick is the winner of the game.
Roll the dice and identify the color name written. Use the clothespin to cover the corresponding color in your own craft stick. Now the next person gets the turn. If the rolled color is already covered, then you loose your turn and the next person gets the turn.
It was difficult to the cover the colors towards the end which made the game interesting.
My preschooler was playing with her friend on a play date. The friend won the game. Then my daughter was answering that playing was not for winning; it was for fun 🙂
