Suncatcher is becoming our favorite as it is simple but fun enough for both my eight year old and three year old to work together. It is difficult to find projects which they both enjoy. They both love suncatchers. We made this beautiful suncatcher for Mothers day.
Materials needed: (affiliation links are used)
2. Color tissue paper (colored gift paper from dollar store)
4. Scissors
5. Template
Method:
1. Take the printout of the template. We didn’t use the template. I created one later to share with you all.
2. Cut out the letters and the heart from the template.
3. Arrange and trace them with pencil in the black construction paper.
4. Remove the inside portion of the heart (it is too scary to read this line!). To add more interest to the suncatcher, we drew a smaller heart inside and cut that out. We again attached the small heart inside the bigger one when we used contact paper.
5. To remove the letters, we poked a small hole near one end. We inserted our scissors in the hole and cut out the letters.
6. Using tape, attach the contact paper to the work area with its sticky side facing up. Stick the cut out black construction paper on that.
7. My preschooler had cut tissue paper by then. Both of them started attaching the tissue paper to the construction paper.
8. Once they are done, I covered the work with another piece of contact paper.
9. Attached the suncatcher to the window with a piece of tape.
I did not take any pictures as the entire project was directed by my eight year old. I was busy doing my work. They were finished by the time I realized. Ouch!
These suncatchers that we had done earlier have step by step pictures and should give you better idea.
Every time I cross the window, it brings smile on my face. It would make a perfect gift for mother’s day!
