My nine year old has seen this pencil topper idea in a book. She is not able to recollect the book details. But she remembered the procedure. So we went ahead and made a duck tape flower pencil topper as part of our back to school idea series.
Materials needed: (affiliation links are used)
1. Duck tape
2. Pencil
3. Scissors
Method :
1. Cut out a piece of duck tape. Bring a corner to the center and fold. Repeat the same for the opposite corner. This a petal. We made 25 petals.
2. Take a petal and roll it around the pencil with the sticky portion of the petal touching the pencil and the pointed portion of the petal away from the pencil.
3. When pasting the next petal, make sure that the pointed side of the petals are not aligned. Can you see a bud in the picture below ?
4. Continue attaching all the petals to the pencil. The beautiful duck tape flower is done!
It was pretty simple for my nine year old.
