As I said in my Crepe paper pencil topper post, we are getting ready for school. We made another pencil topper flower and we made the flower with corn husk. Now corn husk has become a favorite medium for my nine year old to work with. She enjoys working with it.
Materials needed:
1. Corn husk
2. Sharpie
3. Scissors
4. Hot glue gun
5. Pencil
Method:
1. Dry the corn husks completely. Flatten them with hands.
2. Draw petals with Sharpie and cut them out. We made 5 small, 4 medium and 4 big sized petals. As you see below, the husks were not flattened completely. But it did not affect the flower.
3. Roll the small petal around the pencil and glue the small side of the petal to the pencil with the hot glue. My nine year old handles the hot glue gun with care. Some kids may need help here.
4. Then wrap and glue the medium petals and then big petals.
Corn husk flower is done! It looks beautiful. This back to school idea is easier for bigger kids to decorate one of the most used school supplies – the pencil.
